Why not setup an Iftaar dinner with friends and family, and contribute a small amount of money at each Iftaar.

keep it small and easy to manage - get about 10 friends together (max) have an Iftaar in turn at each ones house, each person brings some food in order not burden the host (if desired). Set an amount that each person will have to donate at each Iftaar and on a weekly basis donate the funds to MGR.

Energy4Life

Solar Energy for the Poor ...

MGR’s innovative Solar Energy Project aims to provide clean and renewable power to the poorest people of the world.

Lack of access to affordable electricity is a major cause of poverty in rural areas of developing countries, which is why MGR has set up this project to provide solar power for the poor.

Once it is set up, the solar panel system will enable a poor family to save on electricity costs, kerosene costs for lamps, provide a means for children to study at night and to remain cool in the hot summers.
The acute electricity shortage in Pakistan is creating extreme misery for its population and especially the poor in daytime temperatures touching 46 degrees Celsius.
For this reason, MGR is running this project first in Pakistan and will then expand to other areas of the world.
Each Solar Panel System will cost £1,150.00 including installation. – Part donations welcome

System will have a capacity to run an electric fan and at least 2 energy saving bulbs.

The life of a solar panel is approximately 20+ years!

we can provide drinking water for a poor person, although this is not a permanant solution it does offer a short term solution.

Safe and clean water is the first line of defence in protecting public health and protecting the basic values that are fundamental to the quality of life. Public health is the primary goal of MGR’s Water4Life™ Project.

Swat Valley Relief work 2009

MGR teams distributing aid to the displaced people of Swat Valley, in the village of Mardan, the people of Mardan taken in over 5,000 IDPs who are living in their houses, the need here was for food and bedding; which MGR distributed. Food, bedding were distributed with dignity and children got their treats of biscuits and chocolates.

MGR Swat Valley - water project

Water is the basic necessity of life but it is the dilemma in third world countries that majority of the population are deprived from access to clean and affordable drinking water. Safe and clean water is the first line of defence in protecting public health and protecting the basic values that are fundamental to the quality of life. Public health is the primary goal of MGR’s Water4Life™ Project. There should be no doubt that the majority of people in the third world are exposed to the hazard of drinking unsafe and polluted water. In an effort to improve this situation, MGR has started a project where donors in the West can purchase a bottle of water for beneficiaries in the third world, as a first alternative to drinking unfiltered tap water or contaminated water from other sources. However, MGR realises that bottled water is not a substitute to a sufficient service supplying safe drinkable tap water, but considers it to be a safe alternative or one which complements existing infrastructure to provide safe drinking quality water to the masses. The MGR Water4LifeTM Project is the most promising and innovative initiative for the general public, which at the moment is prone to water borne diseases and cannot afford to purchase clean and purified bottled water. MGR is piloting this project in Pakistan initially, and if successful, will expand it to other countries in the Indian subcontinent, and within a year will establish it in African countries as well. Donate £1.00 per bottle All funds accumulated from this project will be put towards MGR’s handpump scheme in order to give a permanent source of water. Update Swat Valley 2nd June 2009

MGR has been working in Pakistan since 2000, our teams have responded to all major emergencies in Pakistan; from the 2002 Rawalpindi floods, 2003 Chakmisran tornado, 2004 Sindh floods, 2005 Kashmir earthquake to the Baluchistan crisis in 2007 to name a few - but the situation is deteriorating rapidly as the number of displaced people is estimated at 2.4 million.

Due to the number of people some camps are cramped and conditions are unhygienic where diseases are easily spread. In some places there are up to 500 people sharing just two toilets, many women and girls have not washed since they fled their homes because washing facilities in some camps are not adequate and in close proximity to male washing facilities.
